I speak of a person who says he will take action, but makes sure its not like a loose cannon......why does it get interpreted as wimpish by americans??

Does this go back to our cowboys and indians shoot from hip wild west heritage?

I'm sure that's not all of it--but we definitely do have our contingent of the grunt-and-spit types who define anyone who doesn't hit first and ask questions later as a wimp.

Nothing in international politics is as simple are you are trying to make it. Whether it is wimpish or not depends on the type of action your candidate wants to take and where he/she is going to take that action.
