Ex. Bern Nadette Stanis was viewed by many as a sex symbol, if you've watched goodtimes the character (Thelma) was not this at all, Bern Nadette herself stated the character is a positive role model and not intended to be a sex symbol. Also have found that alot of guys that consist of other races view black women this way so they just see them as sexual and not someone they could see themselves dating.

huh? I've never experienced this first hand, but if there is truth in it, maybe it's the differences that draw them.

Kind of like when you get bored in a relationship, you look for someone who is almost the complete opposite of the person you were (or are, if you're that kind of person) dating. (in some situations at least)

Being a woman- it feels like mostly all women are viewed as sex symbols across all cultures and races. Even less attractive women are labeled with the 'butter face' comment (Everything is nice but her face!) Testosterone drives the male sexual desire and since men run most of the media, that's how women have been portrayed blatantly and subtly through the years in movies, print, & music and naturally that is how people will respond when subjected to all those subliminal cues!
To touch upon your last comment, I have friends of different races and they have the same views of other races-okay for fun but not for serious dating/relationships. I feel it has more to do with family and society pressures. People say they are okay with interracial dating, but usually that is not true when it involes someone of their own race with another race.

this is a great question whose answer only comes to me as i type. it is also aprt of americas racial mold. if you know history remember the slave women and girls. how bout the slave codes? well blacks were not considered people and were valued as less than the weakest horse on a farm plantation. heifers and bitchesss is their name for the time period by white men.( the ones in power in this era)yet they would rape a slave, have sex parties or gangbangs . black women as sex tools for white men desirable big asses a beast who could not resist any white man or risk a beating or death, even to the point of preparing a young child underage 10 for the sex or rape that will some day come. i guess you can say this is proof that tradition is passed down man to man generation to generation whatever preserves the old lifestyles. sex with blacks is okay if no one else knows or if its paid 4.how many men of the past ahve lost their virginity to a white boy or man. its so deep it can't all be put in but remember the time and laws of slavery .how discusting and vile can black people actually be? and who created this lie that still lives? historically blacks have been called promiscuosly sexual and without morals. this belief fueled the actions of whites against black women ,and the fact that she was property suppoerted white male superiority. of course blacks (male ) at some point emulated the idea not knowing where it comes from...ie...the residual social
effects .

Because some men are racist and have issues. I think the lady below is missing the point. Women of ALL races are viewed as sex symbols. It seems the question is more of....why are black women viewed as sex objects (like many attractive women) but yet the same guys who view them as sex objects, would not date them, but WOULD date white/Hispanic/Asian women who are viewed as sex objects.

And again my response is that some people are just extremely racist - some men are so racist that they'd never want to bring a black woman home to meet their families, but they still find some black women sexually attractive. Let me also clarify that I think a guy who thinks like that is a piece of sh*t.

I don't like the fact that she just claimed that black women are more sexy than others, that's just silly. I don't like it when anyone claims any ethnic group (including Caucasian) is sexier than another. It's ridiculous.

As a black women I can contribute this view of black women to the videos and music of today. It's always about how "baby got back" or how "her rack was so nice." I do feel that in a lot of ways it has been blacks that have promoted this view of our women. As far as the dating thing goes I think men from other races date black women to explore a fantasy or to rebell against their parents. It's not the fault of the black women that other races find us so ATTRACTIVE sexually or otherwise.

Phil. Now you know that most males look upon most females as a sex possibility. Color has nothing to do with it. There are many beautiful black women in our nation, and across the globe. There are many beautiful women on our earth.
