Yes, it's a VERY strange feeling, but very hard to do.

Almost as though you don't exist...freaks me out...but it feels amazing, but not, ya know?

Using the word 'nothing' means that you have an idea. If you think about your idea of 'nothing', you will change it. Repeatedly thinking about this changing idea will tire your mind (or bore it), but it will also keep you from thinking about anything else. When it is tired enough to stop thinking about the definition, but it has nothing else lined up for consideration, then you will find yourself thinking about nothing.

The tradition of meditating on 'nothing' uses this changing definition as a way of progressing towards a 'pure' understanding of what 'nothing' actually is.

Traditionally, it is understood that you will 'discover' something which seems to be the true nothing several times, and progress to noticing each time that you were wrong; your new 'nothing' was really something, but it seemed like nothing by comparision with the somethings you had been thinking before.

Well, the only time I think of nothing is when I'm a sleep, even though judging by the dreams I have the mind doesn't switch of. So the answer is no and I would like to.

I have imagined before I was conceived, that I thought, but as I had never known anything, I only ever thought 'nothing'.

But I'm sure, given forever there will come a time when I think of nothing, rather than think about nothing.
If you don't think, it is the same as thinking nothing.

YES, because I learned how to switch off the constant flow of thoughts... a wonderful feeling, perfect peace, and it allows me to think clearer afterwards.

The method is called "mindfulness", a way of meditating in daily life. It works, it is easy to learn, and it is cheaper than illegal drugs :-)

No I cant. I was asking myself this the other morning, my mind races all the time, half of it about rubbish. Like a commentary on my life, I wish I could turn it off.
Only when asleep I stop thinking.

yes, you can get into a sleeping like statewhere you are completely focused n thinking of absolutley nothing. Like buddhists do b4 meditating

Meditation is based on the ability to think of nothing, it takes practice but is possible.

I believe you we are always thinking of something, if I say, "I'm going to think of nothing" then I'm thinking of that nothing I'm not suppose to think... I don't know, it is confusing but I believe that we are always thinking of something, even when we sleep(?)

No. There are always thoughts in your subconscious, even if you try your hardest not to think in your immedeate conscious state. Your brain is always processing something, a memory, etc. encrypting information into long term memory, brinign up short term memory, w/e you say 30 seconds ago is recycled contantly, so no youc an't.

When I meditate every morning the hardest thing to do is to still the chatter in my mind - but with practise this is possible so that you are not thinking at all, just being.....
