Squeezing the air from the tip is important to reduce the tension at the tip of the penis during intercourse AND ejaculation. To much tension will cause the tip of the condom to break. You would most likely be able to see the break in the condom if it occurs and if you can't you would probably see the sperm leaking out somewhere near the tip.

Sabine is mistaken. Which probably explains why so many women get pregnant during condom use.

You squeeze the air from the tip so that the condom WON'T break. Ejaculate going into a vacuum (tip with no air) will put less pressure on the condom than ejaculate going into an air bubble.

The condom should be put on before intercourse begins. The rolled condom should be placed over the head of the penis after it is hard and erect, leaving a half-inch of space at the tip to collect semen. (Pinching the air out of the tip with thumb and forefinger can help to prevent breakage). Next the condom should be unrolled down the entire length of the penis until it reaches the base. Be sure to smooth out any air bubbles along the way. The condom should fit snugly so that it won't slide off during intercourse. If you start to put on a condom inside-out, throw it away. You'll know it's inside out because it won't roll down the length of the penis easily.

The condom may break when he ejaculates. You are supposed to hold the tip of the condom (leaving room for the ejaculation, no air needed) and then roll it on. It may not break, but why take the risk?

It has an easier chance of breaking if the air is not squeezed out.
