in final fantasy 12, how important is the zodiac spear?

im 3 hours in n ive opened some of the chests ur not meant to if u want to obtain the zodiac spear. how easy is it to complete the game without this weaponc cos i dont know if i shud start again

You don't need the Zodiac Spear to finish the game. It is the most powerful weapon, but I have it and don't use it that often because I prefer a one-handed weapon and a shield. It is also possible to get another Zodiac Spear from the secret area in the Henne Mines (which you can access once you have 10 espers). But it's only a 1/1000 chance of the spear being there. Here is a map with the location marked with a red X.

Sometimes the chest isn't there, and if the chest is there, it doesn't always have the spear in it. But don't worry, you don't need it to finish the game.

While the Zodiac Spear isn't necessary to beat the game, it makes it alot easier seeing how you can one hit pretty much everything until the later half of the game. But if you decide to just keep playing, don't lose sleep over it, you can get equally powerful (even better?) weapons at the end of the game, with a little work (Tournesol).
Just know that there's pretty much no way for you to get the Spear on that save file though.

The spear isnt important u can beat Yzamat without it. If ur able to beat yzzmat without it the game is a piece of cake.

Yes you can complete the game without it their other special weapons you can get i personally prefer equipping swords and daggers to my team and obviously 1 person with a bow to cast white magic plus doing damage
