Is there any other job around the house that can beat it for boredom....stuck in front of the damn thing changing bowls of boiling water and chipping away with a blunt knife trying not to cut through a wire.....Aaaaarrgghh!

did mine yesterday managed to drag it to the kitchen door took out a chair sat in front of it with hairdrier on full blast, quite plesant in sunshine reading my book water just ran out into garden. don't think it would be a good idea if you live in a flat though. Do you promise yourself to defrost much more often then just forget about it again untill door wont shut again or is that just my bad habit.

Want to make the job less boring, try using a hair dryer to defrost it,does the job in a 1/4 of the time and you end up with some bloody great lumps of ice. You also don't run the risk of killing the freezer by stabbing it accidently.Cleaning window frames is a much more boring job.

How about cleaning the oven, or tackling that pile of ironing that has been sitting there for ages waiting for you to get in the right mood?

Woah lots of votes for oven cleaning :) I hate washing my dog she loves being bathed but such a maniac afterwards - she scrapes her body against every sofa, wall and person in the house! lovely.

Cleaning my oven always makes me want to scream. You think it's clean and decide to give it one last wipe and the cloth still picks up more dirt...grrrrrr

Also find ironing brain numbing, washing windows and weeding...lol

Poor baby. Been there done that, thank goodness for frost-free

Be careful of the freon coils as well - you do NOT want to open up one of those.
