Ok guys just wondering about how i would get another keyless remote rubber part. mine works just fine its just you cant see what buttons locks/unlocks the car. All i need is the rubber part. I know they got them online but im not old enought to buy online yet (aka my dad wont let me get it). Will junk yards have them? Also is there a way i could just like switch the chip in my remote for another one? Im not sure what part of the electronics in the remote give it the frequency but could i switch the ones on a diff remote and get mine to work? Thanks!

on a gm vehicle you will have to replace the whole transmitter anywhere from 35.00 TO 65.00 depending on the yr model & make!

yes you can switch the rubber components out on a remote. you just pop it open (unless there are screws) and you will find three seperate parts, the rubber buttons, the battery, and the "computer" looking part. just remove the old ones and replace them. as far as finding one, if you are old enough to drive i know a lot of times car dealers have spare remotes laying around to help with quick fixes and i believe if you ask kindly enough someone will be more than glad to give it to you. i work at a car lot and we have a box that we keep with remotes for ten to fifteen different makes and models just laying there and i would do it for you, so i imagine someone else out there could be as kind.

If your Dad is worried about it, let him get it. It sounds like he isn't worried at all and he knows what the symbols are and the doesn't want to spend the money on something he doesn't need.

Once he gets concerned, then he will get another one. A lot of car dealers have boxes of them laying around. I know my Mother-in-law only received one remote when she bought the car. My daughter bought the car, and I went to the dealer and told them about it. They gave me a box full of transmitters and told me to find one that looks like the old one. I got one and then they went out and programmed it for me, and didn't even charge me anything. Of course, I have bought a bunch of cars from them over the years.
