It's called Clomid. Clomid is a fertility drug taken to help produce better (and possibly more) eggs. It is often used in conjunction with fertility treatments such as IUI (intrauterine insemination) and IVF (invitro fertilization).

Some women take it if they are producing eggs that are not reaching a good size by the time they ovulate. It is usually taken for 5 days (cycle day 2-6, 3-7, etc.)

If you are not ovulating/having a period and you're trying to get pregnant your doctor may recommend it.

You can get a Clomid prescription from your ob/gyn. It is usually the first treatment in women who don't ovulate. I have PCOS and never ovulated on it so I had to move onto something more hard-core (aka the injectables). You have to go to a specialist if Clomid doesn't work for you. There is no over-the-counter med you can buy to make you ovulate so don't listen to the claims about herbal remedies like Vitex. They don't actually work.

The risk of multiples on Clomid is very low. There is an increased chance of twins. The injectables are what possibly cause multiples, but any good doctor will monitor your response to these meds EXTREMELY closely so you don't conceive multiples. If you produce too many follicles, your cycle will be cancelled.

I am not sure if you can just go to the doctor and say "I want Clomid." When was the last time that you went to the gynecologist for a checkup? I suggest that you go to the doctor and discuss your options with him/her. They will probably do some blood work and maybe a few other tests to see if your tubes and ovaries are ok. Also, the doctor will suggest that your partner gets his sperm tested. That is one thing that we as women never think of...we always assume that it is the woman's fault that we can't get prego, but sometimes men have issues, also. Usually Clomid/fertility drugs are the doctor's last resort.

If you're not getting pregnant on your own, it means something isn't right. Throwing drugs into your body can help some people, but unless you know what's wrong, you won't know how to fix it.

Your doctor won't prescribe clomid (or at least shouldn't) until they've done a preliminary analysis of your cycles and, hopefully, have done some blood work.

What to do next kind-of depends on what you've BEEN doing. I recommend one of the top fertility books out there. Follow the link and buy it today. Its suggestions aren't easy, but I tried clomid. I tried ob/gyns and specialists. And what I learned about my body is that it is capable of healing itself. This book is a good start.

Yes clomid is the drug they prescribe yo when you do not ovulate. You should consult your doctor and see if there are any other problems as to why you haven't conceived yet.

Normally they prescribe something else before clomid because the side effects can sometimes out weigh that good.
Like multiples, not just twins, more like triplets, quads, quints, sextuplets .

I believe it is called clomid and that it is usually prescribed by an infertility specialist for women who are having problems conceiving. Have you talked to your ob about the problems you are having conceiving. How long have you been trying. There are a bunch of tests your doctor will probably run before prescribing anything because of potential side effects of medications.

your gyno can perscribe them to you, they are pills that you take for 5 days when your cycle begins either on day 2,3,4,5 day of your period, it sends a trigger to the brain to release more eggs so that you can ovulate
