NY Times said: "Matsui homered again in the sixth [of last night's game], giving him 13 for the month. He hit .345 in July, with 28 runs batted in and 31 runs scored, making a compelling case to be named the American League’s player of the month.

I think so because he is on fire with home runs, has an average of an RBI per game, and an average of more than a run per game.

What a month he had, two more homeruns last night. I am not sure what others did but Matsui has to be in the top two or three vote getter's for the month.

Pat Burrell batted .580!!! Only 6 HR thoughs but had 26 RBI's so it will be a close call.
