Stay away from caffine.

Water retention comes from conserving sodium in the tissues because of stress. Reduce your stress. Eat high potassium foods and lower salt content. That means fruits and veggies. A good natural way to reduce water retention is to drink a cup of parsley tea. Crush 1 tsp. dried parsley or one Tablesp.fresh parsley leaves. Boil and pint of water, turn off the fire under the unit and let the parsley seep in the hot water for 10 min, drink. go ahead and drink the parsley leaves too. I would avoid water pills unless nothing else works.

Drink more water, seriously. Your body is holding on to what it has right now. More importantly, why are you retaining water? Are you pregnant? It might be high blood pressure too. If not and this is ongoing, you need to go to the Dr. I started retaining water about 8 years ago and my Dr. gave me diuretics but I wanted to find out why this was happening. I finally went to a specialist and my kidneys do not function properly. So make sure you get it checked out.

Less caffeine, fewer sodium-rich foods, and drink plenty of water. Your body will hold on to all the water it can when you're not drinking enough to meet your daily needs.

try to reduce as much sodium as possible in your diet. this may sound silly, but to get rid of bloating, you actually need to drink MORE water. the water will flush out any excess sodium.

Drink lots of water, every day. Sounds counterintuitive, but drinking lots of water flushes out retained water.

Diuretics. But uhh...yeah some would beg to differ on that one.
You could also just avoid things with a high sodium count and eat a lot of vegetables.
