The Chevy dealer and other mechanics that I have consulted have no clue as to what is causing the sensors to fail.Has anyone experienced this problem who may have found a remedy?

The two ignition modules(one mounted adjacent to the coil and the other on the distribitor) seem to fail every few months or so. The failures seem to occur when attempting to start the engine when it is cold. When the engine won't start, I have the ignition modules tested and sure enough they have failed.

If you keep blowing Ignition Modules for no reason there is a good chance the Voltage Regulator in the Alternator is spiking the system with high voltage. Be sure to use the dielectric compound on the module's mating surface. Put the truck on a Modis or some other scope and watch the alternator for voltage trouble.

Which module or sensor are you talking about? The only cause of continued failure of a particular module or sensor would be a ground resistance problem or a voltage spike of some type which could be a poor connection or an actual voltage spike which could be caused by another module in the same circuit or a regulator problem in the alternator.

If you have not done so, you should get noe from the dealer and make sure you use the gel that comes with it,if there is none get some before install.............. Clean distributor housing thoroughly and apply the get to the back of the module and tighted evenly, then clear codes from E C M and there you go ........ hope that helps

My good friends know that they can confide in me. Not only because I won't breach their confidence, but because they know if I give them advice, I'll shoot straight with them. I won't sugar-coat anything. I won't repeat these things even if they forget to ask me not to. Having said that, I love a quote that Mae West once coined: "You start to keep secrets, and your secrets will keep you."
