I'm just curious. Would you rather have your bf select your engagement ring & wedding band for you and surprise you with it? Or would you prefer to select your own?
And why? Please explain your choice.

I want him to choose the engagement ring because I want to be surprised when he proposes. My boyfriend knows me so I know that he will choose something that I will love!

It's probably practicality and for aesthetic value- if you think about it, the engagement ring usually have a diamond or some other stone, so it would look funny and fit funny if it was put on before the wedding band. some women I know don't even wear wedding bands cos of the shape and design of their engagement rings: they wont fit next to a wedding band. I guess you could do it the other way round if you wanted to :)

My husband and I compromised on this. I wanted to be surprised, and I also wanted him to be involved in the wedding (since the girl is usually running the whole show and guys rarely get input). But I also was worried that my hubby-to-be might pick something that I wouldn't like. So what we did was we went online and the jewelry stores, looked at rings, and talked about them. I made sure not to say things like "OMG I LOVE THIS ONE", instead we kind of critiqued rings, saying "oh, this one is too...." or "this one is nice because....". It worked really well and it was a fun experience. Then, he got them on his own, and while he surprised me with them, it wasn't a fashion catastrophe.

i would prefer that he selects the engagement ring because the proposal is supposed to be a surprise (or at least that's my preference) we would select the wedding bands together since they should kind of match each other.

It's a lot more romantic if my bf were to select them. It would show me that he knows me well if I liked it & that he didn't know me well if I didn't like it. Although it would be safer if I picked it out myself, I'd rather him pick it out, so I can see what he brings home. Besides I would rather him have the ring with him when he proposes.

Call me old-fashioned and a hopeless romantic, but I'd rather my boyfriend pick them out for me. Not only do I trust his judgment, but it would also mean so much more to me that he picked out something he believed I would love and be honored to wear for the rest of our lives ♥

My husband selected my engagement ring and he did wonderful. then after we were married he bought me more diamonds to go around the solitare and I got to design it myself.

i picked out the style that i liked but my now husband ended up picking something completely different and I loved it. Ive known people to go to several stores and pick out the rings they like and right down the numbers so when your fiance goes to buy it he can pick out the one he likes and you know you still like it too.

Select my own...because I'm picky.
I think that you will both know that it is going to happen so why not show him what you want and he'll surprise you WHEN he proposes.
That's what we did and I was fine with it!

I'd rather have hubby surprise me. He's got pretty good taste in jewellery.
