But the same could be said of Extreme Conservatism.

But it also depends on your definition of liberal & conservative.

No, the neocon agenda is by far the worst threat this country has ever witnessed to it's survival. And, the Democratic party has moved too far to the right and appeases the same corporations and their lobbyists that the GOP does. They also follow the same war rhetoric that the GOP uses. Clinton moved the Democrats to the right. He did nothing that was liberal since he too was for the deregulation of the media conglomerates and telemarketing businesses. he also cut funding to welfare recipients and cut how long they could be on welfare. How anyone thinks the Dems are liberal or even socialist is remarkable considering Clinton was the best Republican president you guys have ever had. He passed almost every GOP bill that came down the street. It now appears that we have a one party system with 2 wings. Liberalism doesn't exist in our government.

obviously you are going to here a bunch of them on here complaining but they should at least know why their opponents think they are a threat to this nation.

1. We leave Iraq we are screwed even if you're not for the war, liberals need to stop resisting because it's just casuing red tape, which causes the troops to be there longer. Trust me as you might think people do, NOBODY wants to go to war especially the President , it was a last resort and I can give a million reason why it was a last resort but I'm on to explain not to argue.

2. Dem leaders going to other countries and telling them that they are against this war is also slowing the efforts down, and hurts the morale of our troops as well as the faith that our allies have in us.

3. Freedom of speech is different from slander, and alot of people on here don't realize that there are limits to free speech, this isn't an anarchy, free speech only goes so far. When it harms progress or defames someone that is past what freedom of speech was intended.

4. pettyness I know it exists on both sides of the isle, but Congress isn't a game and when they vote against things and I'm talking about little things not things they have a true stance on. When they vote out of spite it only hurts the country. One example is the 2006 State of the Union, when the President discussed a bill that the Dems defeated, Hillary was dancing around and laughing like she did it out of spite, the next sentence from the President was that their vote cost the tax payers $100,000 or more I can't remember the exact figure actually.

5. They think Civil liberties are more important than safety, everyone wants civil liberties, but you have to be realistic when there are people trying to harm you, because those civil liberties won't do you any good if they don't prevent an attack that could kill you. I'm more than willing to get searched at an Airport I did in Las Vegas last year and I was cool to the guy, because honestly it made me feel alot safer to know that they are at least checking to make sure that unless there is a pilot error or weather I'm going to make it home safely.

I consider Liberals and Conservatives the extreme of each political party, I'm in the middle. I vote for both parties and I share views of both parties. I maybe a Republican but I'm pretty middle of the road.

Those are my only gripes, I wish there were more middle of the road people on both sides, but it seems at least after being on here that there are alot more people who conservatives rather than Republicans, but it seems on here at least that there are alo more liberals rather than Democrats. Just read the answers above.

Every positive social change occuring in America and around the west was liberal in its day, so, of course liberalism is not a threat to America. Only to Limbaugh and Hannity et al's listeners.

No.

Liberalism is a belief in civil liberties, personal freedom, civil and constitutional rights, and free market economy -- all the things our country was founded to protect.

Sadly, neither of the two dominant political parties seem to care about liberal values any more. The Republican party is run by neo-cons who oppose all freedoms, and the Democratic party is run by socialists who oppose financial freedoms.
