Some people are crazy and some things make a lot of sense. I do the same thing sometimes! Sometimes you find the answers to your own questions or obscure questions sometimes seem interesting, to me at least. I love to know more about science from a science specialist here on Answers than anywhere else on the web. It seems to be a little more reliable and you actually know it's legit. Oh modern technology...

It is a good way to learn things about human nature that you would otherwise never find out.
People tend to be more candid, open, and honest about their true thoughts and intentions when they think that they are somewhat anonymous behind that computer screen. People ask questions here that they wouldn't dare ask to your face, and share candid thoughts in their answers that they would normally try to hide in a real social setting with other people listening. Nothing dirty, mind you, but potentially embarassing or awkward stuff that most people would have normally left unsaid.
I learned a lot about other people's point of view this way -- especially from people who probably would not hang out with me in real life simply because we are so different.
And sharing what you know makes you feel smart and important. And it is an entertaining way to kill time instead of doing my boring job (Oops! back to work!).

I think it is addictive too, but it's sometimes basically the only thing I can do on the computer unless I find a game i like, but I like talking and emailing other people to get to know them. it's fun

i do the same thing when im bored at work i will go on answers and see other peoples question and how people really answer them.
i dont think we are the only ones because other people answer questions all of the time!!!

yeah i mean its so addictive you know to answer all some stuppid and great question..
