You usually see EST moreso than EDT, but I believe it stands for Eastern Daylight Time, whereas EST stands for Eastern Standard Time.

EDT is Eastern Daylight Time and is used during Daylight Saving Time (until Congress screwed it up, used to be between the first weekend in April and the last weekend in October). It's after you set your clocks ahead one hour.

EST is Eastern Standard Time, which, before the change was between the last weekend in October and the first weekend in April. It's after you set your clocks back one hour.
