It's not the drums that adjust. It's the break shoes when you back up.

On the 93 chevy corsica use of the parking brake is required to make the rear brakes adjust. The brake drums actually need no adjustment as stated before. The brake shoes adjust to match wear on the shoes and drums.

If you think there are problems in your rear brakes a simple test can help you to decide. Pull the parking brake. If it pulls easily then stops you need your brakes serviced. If it pulls easy at first then gets hard, then go on to put the car in gear with the engine running. If the car goes easily then you need your brakes serviced. If it stays in place then your rear brakes are generally fine.

Yes, the shoes automatically adjust for wear. However, it does not work unless you are backing up and do a hard braking to a stop. These cars are notorious for letting their rear brakes get out of adjustment, which isn't too big of a concern as the hydraulics can take this up very quickly.

The brake drums do not adjust, they do wear out and become over sized. the brake shoes should, adjust, but if the adjuster is seized the will not. and the brake pedal will feel low and you will begin to have poor braking, if you have concerns about your brakes have the inspected, there are lots of shops that do free brake inspections, hoping to get your business.
Remember your brake are your life on the highway.

Yep they adjust when you back up and apply brake.. The adjuster is a "star" ring on a threaded rod, with a flat plate against star.As you back up the star turns and when you put the brakes on it moves the plate to "wedge" the star so it can't move the other way and loosen up the shoes
