So, anyone whose read my other questions or my info, you'd know that my dream is to get into acting in screen plays. So, yesterday I told my mom for the second time that I want to start being like a child movie star. And she had to bring in reason. She reminded me that very few people actually make it into big time movies and the rest are leftovers who are left with being extras in films. Now, I have zero expirience in acting but- I have been in a few of my brothers home movies and I've been playing pretend since I was in kindergarten. I practice acting facial expressions in mirrors and do little things to make sure I don't look into the camera by making sure that in an entire day I never look in a mirror. So, help me out, does what I just described sound like I could be an actor in screne plays?

well, it's good that you're practicing in the mirror & home & stuff.
but to find out if you really are good you should try out for a school play or a community theater play.
& if you aren't that good then just keep practicing & take on small parts in plays.
it will be hard to actually make it the big time movie business.
you just have to stay motivated & not let other people drag you down.
you could start by acting in commericals then in small time movies & graudally work your way up.
& you'll probably need an agent.
hopefully your mom will support you when she realizes you are serious about this.

im actually in the same boat.
i've never acted before.
i don't have time to participate in school plays & stuff like that but in college im going to take an acting class.
i don't want to be famous or anything.
just have small parts in movies.
i think it would be fun.
but im also going to have an a job.
this would just be an extra thing.
& i dought it will ever happen for me but you never know!

good luck & keep practicing/trying.

The first answer is a good one and that's exactly what you should do, but you should also expand on that to add acting classes, voice lessons and dance classes. Making faces in the mirror isn't going to do much for you except make you aware of how you look making a certain face. Now, if your brothers are budding film makers and you are the star of their films, that is good practice :-)

One you've been in classes for a while and done a few theatre productions, you can move on to bigger and better things. Colleges that have films programs have film students that need actors. You could start in student films and those would be good to put on your resume and in a demo reel. You can contact the college film departments to see if they maintain a book of headshots for that department or you can check www.backstage.com or www.actorsaccess.com for auditions. All may have listings depending on how they do things where you live.

Once you've done all that and if your parents feel you really have made some good progress and are really committed to helping you make a go of it, then come back and ask about getting an agent. What ever you do do NOT pay anyone to help you get an agent or do not ever pay an agent up front, that's not the way it works. Talent agents get 10% of your pay AFTER they help get you a job. It's the commission they earn for working as your agent, they do not ever get upfront fees.

Good luck!

You are living in a dream world. Reality is different from your view, your mom is right, but not as fully factualy as she might be. the left overs do not even become extras, they become teachers of acting who are incompetent. MB's answer is close, if you think you are an actor, prove it in school and community plays! Nichole lives in her own fantasy world, her commercial offer was a scam to sell her lessons, her mom was right not to allow it, And Michelle needs a copy of my book, The Tao of Acting,Mentoring for Aspiring Actors, so she can learn something about the real world of acting.
Finally, NO what you described does not sound like you could be an actor. You for get the importance of looks and experience. Get real!

Aim smaller; start out in local community theater and gain some experience. Who knows you might find that you don't even like acting. It's a lot of hard work and the chances of making it on to the sliver screen are astronomical.

think smaller. Find a local community theater and find out when their next play will be and how to audition. Then tell your mom. Once you show her that you have the determination and you're willing to persue this on any level - she should start supporting you.
You need experience to do anything in the business. Start at a local theater.
