People like pets. But people are also lazy and don't like to pick up after pets.

All I know is that I got a dog when I lived alone in an apartment in a bad part of the city. I wanted it as protection and a companion, but since it was an inside dog (and still is mainly) I give her a bath every week, and she has a clean place that she sleeps. I sweep and vacuum almost daily, and always do my best to keep my house neat. It may not be immaculate, but it's clean and doesn't smell. The people who have indoor pets and smelly houses maybe just need to learn a little more about pet care. Just my opinion.

See that's the thing. People need to be responsible for their animals and keep the animals and their living environment clean. Animals are no more disgusting than humans - just by being alive, you get dirty and filthy. If humans dont bathe for a month or two that gets really rancid too.
Most pet owners care well for their pets. Unfortunately, the few who don't are the ones that get the attention.

We love our pets. We have 7 barn cats that earn their keep on the farm by keeping the rodent population down. They live outdoors and keep warm & dry in the barn.
We also have 3 dogs that work the farm as well. They have access to the house at night and sleep inside. The dogs get baths when they need it. All the pets get Vet care, shots, and are spayed/neutered.
Our house isn't filthy or smelly. Same for all of our friends and family that have pets. Your service area must be on the wrong side of the tracks!

I don't know, but I wonder this very same thing myself. I am asthmatic so I guess I am biased, but if I could breathe perfectly fine I would not allow any animals in my home, much less on my own bed! Moreover, why is it that low-income families always have multiple pets!?! In the past few weeks I have had the distinct "pleasure" of meeting my new girlfriends friends and family, and they all have these things in common: fat; live in a trailer park; poor, yet they have multiple cats and multiple dogs each. And yet day in and day out they complain about their money problems and pray to God they would win the lottery.

Honestly, I think most animals are cleaner than most ppl. The smell comes from all the pee and poop from the animals. Which is not the animal's fault that their owner is too lazy/careless to clean up. If an animal is unable to get outside then it isn't its fault is has to pee in the floor. I clean up after my dog, take him out when he needs out, and bath him when he's dirty. Most homes that smell b/c of animals are the homes where people don't clean out cages, don't house break their pets or have those nasty pee pads for puppies so they don't have to bother taking them outside. I don't understand it either. Would those ppl let their kids pee all over the carpet, poop on a pad in the kitchen and leave it or lock them in a nasty dirty cage and not clean it for 3 weeks?? I hope not. If people can't care for their pets, they shouldn't have them.

wel i have an english bulldog(considered smelliest dogs) and a pomerainian and i live in a 2 bedroom apartment and let me tell you!!! my dogs and apartment do not smell... i bathe my dogs once every 3 days and wipe their faces and paws everyday.. i clean them with a bit of baby powder.. and vacum at least once a day sometimes more. i light insents,, shoot i even own my own rug doctor and clean the carpet at least once a month! and my apartment is beautiful! never ever does my apartment or my dog smell! but, to answer yur question... its not about living with the animals thats wrong or another excuse to be dirty! it is like that because they are just some people that like to live in filth! and that is not right! people should learn how to clean and watch over their selves before they buy pets and pretend they can take care of animals!

I love my pets and even though they may be dirtier than (some) humans, they are worth it to me. I try my best to keep the house clean, but I will admit it is much more difficult with two big dogs. That is why I hire people on a regular basis to deep-clean my carpets, tile and furniture.
I understand you may think pets are filthy (and some may be), but they have good, clean hearts and souls, and I appreciate that. It is a proven study that people with even "filthy" pets live longer!

It's not the animals that are filthy. Some owners are just too lazy to clean up after them, or to take care of their basic hygiene needs. Cats and rabbits are easy to litter train, and dogs can be house broken.

It is like living (sort of) with a smelly old relative...you love them so you put up with incontinence, etc...I guess....
I pay exorbitant amounts to have my carpets and furniture professionally cleaned every 2 weeks, keep high end air purifiers, etc. and have my pets cleaned every week and groomed and private services, all to stay with my beloved animals without the mess or odor.

Perhaps you just have visited America, but I believe in all the world in rural areas or with lazy people.
Why?, people love animals, but many times forget that a dog, the cat, need shower, or a place for pis. Perhaps if you watch too their children will want cry, but in all the world.
