There is no question in my mind that Teixeira has turned the Braves into a legitimate contender. He is a big time player and he has just made the Braves a lot better. By the way, like Chipper he is a switch hitter with power from both sides of the plate.

The Braves will not only catch the Mets, but they'll pass them and maybe even run away with the East and win the Division by 5 games. The Mets are in kind of slump. They can't hit the ball and their bullpen can't hold on to leads. The Braves have added Texiera and Dotel and they only way to go is up.

If people are calling what the Mets are having a slump, the Mets must be pretty damn good when they aren't. As of right now all of our players are starting to break out and pretty soon we will have Beltran, Lo Duca, and Pedro all back on the roster. I don't know whether we will run away with the division, but I am 100% confident we will win. And anyway, I think Teixera is big move for the Braves and should help them next year if they decide to keep him. But I don't know if anybody bothered to look, but right his stats are very much mediocre and below his standards.

They still do not have enough to catch the Mets.
They made nice trades - but those who trade for big name players never seem to win the big dance in October.
