the most police brutality, judicial corruption, confiscation of private property. N.Y.C is ticket crazy (long before Bloomberg) You cant even have a beer in the park without a cop sniffing over your shoulder and you cant drive far without running into a toll.

The strictest police-states have resulted from left-leaning policies.

Think about it.

Is a ban on saturated fat something that would be supported by a non-'liberal'? How about all of the smoking bans. A left-liberal movement indeed.

So-called 'liberals' today are really the opposite of what it means to be liberal in a classical sense. PMRC (Mrs Gore); 'Fairness doctrine'; Anti-smoking; Anti-gun; Anti-alcohol. Classical liberalism is about liberty. Left-liberalism is about giving it up.

It might seem like a left-leaning society would produce a relaxed Woodstock-like environment, but nothing could be further from the truth. The left-leaning mind is about turning economic and personal liberty over to the government. They use a perverted utilitarian mindset to rationalize crushing the natural rights of others for the 'greater good' as they happen to see it at the time.

Watch Chavez. A leftist through and through. Venezuela will not resemble Woodstock in the least. It is on its way to becoming a hard-core police state. This is simply the logical advancement of the class-war, left-liberal mindset.

It's also the most corrupt and non-functional. What do you expect? We have more layers of government than any state which leads to high taxes and oversight. It's a perfect example of why government should be small. Liberals have no case, but they scream the loudest.

I live in Buffalo, and our poverty rate in the city is almost 25%. We have more programs than a Bills game, but it just gets worse. Why Liberals cannot see the cause is beyond belief. All you have to do is go down to the East side and check out the lines for lottery tickets. I guess not spending the money on some paint for the house, food for the table or a new suit for that job interview is somehow Conservative's fault.

You can have a beer in the park, as long as you keep it in the paper bag... and it ain't ticket-crazy if you follow the laws... And what do tolls have to do with being liberal?

Do me a favor. Go home. Get out of my city. Who needs an ****** like you in my town?

IT'S OBVIOUS THAT YOU DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT NY. THE MAJORITY OF THOSE LAWS ARE FROM NYC THEY ARE QUALITY OF LIFE LAWS. BEFORE GIULIANI EVERY DRUNK AND THEIR MOTHER WERE OUT IN THE STREET DRINKING AND GETTING DRUNK. PERSONALLY I DON'T DRINK ALCOHOL AND I DON'T CARE WHO DOES SO LONG AS YOU DO IT IN THE PRIVACY OF YOUR OWN HOME, KNOCK YOUR SELF OUT LITERALLY. BUT I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DRUNK BELLIGERENT BEHAVIOR IN THE STREET. DUE TO THESE LAWS NYC HAS BECOME ONE OF THE SAFEST CITIES IN THE COUNTRY. LAST I CHECKED L.A. WAS THE BRUTALITY CAPITAL OF AMERICA. IF YOU FOLLOW THE LAW AND THE CITY ORDINANCES YOU WON'T GET A TICKET BUT IF YOU THINK THAT YOU ARE ABOVE THE LAW YOU PAY THE PRICE. GIULIANI DID A GREAT JOB IN NYC AND BLOOMBERG HAS DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB IN NYC. IF HE RUNS FOR PRESIDENT HE WILL HAVE MY VOTE. BLOOMBERG THAT IS.

New York is absolutely not the most liberal state. Outside of NYC, much of New York is quite conservative. The districts upstate more often than not have republican congressman.

California and Vermont are probably neck and neck for the most liberal state.
