Other than the simple “click and hang up” don’t you think that saying uhuh, uhuh after everything the other person says is enough to let them know you want to hang up?

Do what I do:
*pretend that you REALLY have to go to the bathroom
*pretend there's a call on the other line & it's an important one you've been expecting
*if on a cell, pretend your battery is about to die (works every time)
*pretend something happened & in a panicked tone start going "omg! omg! i have to let you go NOW!" & then definitely hang up

If a telemarketer, you HAVE to be rude to get them to shut the hell-o up....just simply say in a stern tone "NOT INTERESTED SO TAKE ME OFF YOUR CALLING LIST" & hang up. (Once you ask to be taken off the call list they are required by law to do so but they dont always do it so you may have to tell them a few more times.)

hehe i've used all & they've worked.......you just may have to make up an excuse later for the panic one though =oÞ

If it is a telemarketer speak in some other language, if it is a friend or family member tell them wait a sec, someone is at the door and then pretend you are going away and coming back to the phone and tell them: I will have to call you later.
End of story.

you're patently staggering to offer your pal some area. i'm no longer likely to assert which you may desire to pass on and forget approximately her, because of the fact i be responsive to i could no longer. If she does permit you consult from her returned, remind her of one of the main suitable techniques you adult men had together. tell her which you adult men can start up over and make extra sensible techniques then those you have experienced. I additionally had a chum like this, yet she's no longer so extreme. She wasn't my pal because of the fact i will get rather jealous and overreact. Then i offered her a Christmas present and we made up. sturdy luck!

Assuming this is a person whose feelings you care about, rather than a telemarketer, you can say, right over them talking (and talking and talking) "Oh, look at the time. I've got things to do. Thanks for calling!" (or something similar) and hang up without giving them a chance to reply.

If it's a telemarketer, you can show minimal courtesy by talking right over them with "Thanks for the offer, but I'm not interested," than hanging up without giving them a chance to reply.

If it's a telemarketer say, " Sorry, I am not interested," and then hang up. If it's someone else say, " I am sorry, I will talk with you later," and then hang up. It's still rude but not as rude, I guess.
