My money says several someones are funding every major player that has a chance to gain control of the area. I think if I were a Russian oil company that got severely shafted because all the deals I had made with Saddam were now gone I would be distressed. I wouldnt mind sending some cash to anyone willing to just keep the regions destabilized.
Its coming from multiple sources. An interesting analogy is Somalia by several estimates no less than a dozen foreign governments supporting various factions. All this over their resources. How much more will be spent by foreign nations trying to get a say in the distribution of Iraq's massive resources.

they receive funds from many sources that support their agenda...so-called charities right here in the USA find ways to contribute also. Iran is using them as their proxy and give them major resources.
Saudi citizens who have close tribal ties with Sunni Arabs in Iraq, and sympathize in what they see as a fight for political control over the Iraq's Shiites.
i would seriously doubt that is the Saudi government (the Royals) itself sending funds as these terrorist threaten their leadership and would replace them in a heartbeat if they could. Clearly, the royal family hasn't been aggressive enough but they are walking a tight rope themselves like President Musharraf. we need to encourage these leaders and realize that ruling a predominately Muslim country is difficult..we have a lot at stake here...i pray for all of them.

Nobody is paying Al Qaeda -- they are mostly just stealing what they want.
But the main supported of the Sunni militia and insurgents in Iraq is Saudi Arabia -- you know, the people we are selling all those weapons to....

Iran. They have the most to gain if we fail in the region. If we succeed the current Iranian regime has EVERYTHING to lose!

Saudi Arabia.
Eyota: Absolutely right. Bush & Co. have very close ties with both the Saudi royal family, and the bin Ladens.

The Suadi's are the major contributors - Dubbya's buddies aren't they?
The very same folks who attacked us on 9/11 aren't they?.
All we hear is Iran though - why is that?
