We should never have a war but unfortunately they are sometimes necessary.

We maintained the economy just fine and in surplus during years there was no war. When in WW1 and WW2, war helped our economy because people were given jobs in the army, unemployment down, and all our war-time products were made here in the U.S. In today's war, how many of our weapons do you honestly think are made here? And unemployment's just as high since there's no draft.

So actually, we shouldn't have wars, keep an upbeat profile with world leaders, and our economy would be better for it.

Well, Clinton managed to successfully maintain the economy without having to go to war during his entire 8-year tenure as president. (Of course, keeping in mind the small military conflicts here and there such as Somalia.)

War is a primitive solution for economic recovery and the lives of our men and women are an intangible asset that we should never take advantage of.
