I wouldn't say 'in sporting history' or even close but I have to admit I had doubts about the Swans all year. I was so pleased they beat the boys in their pee-poo blouses. Full credit to them - they're a real quality club and have been in the top few every year since 2004 now. The talk is always about Melbourne teams and particularly Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon and Hawthorn - why? Because it sells newspapers. Those teams dominate the readership of Melbourne papers. At a pinch they'll talk about Geelong or the less popular Melbourne Clubs but Sydney people don't buy the Age and nor do Geelong, SA,WA or Qld people. Your local media doesn't bother reporting AFL until and unless you make the Grand Final ... again - no readership or ratings. Whereas in Geelong or Adelaide for example you don't see anything else in winter! Just go back to last year - Geelong had won 12 in a row before anyone even started to rate them. All the talk was about Collingwood and remained that way until Round 24 when a 100 point flogging suggested that maybe it wasn't all one way traffic but Geelong were still 'too old and too slow'. Indeed this year Geelong missed the top spot by 2 games (and %) but everyone has them written off. My advice - enjoy it and grab a piece of the betting action (Sydney won me $200 and would have won me a lot more if they'd piled on three more goals!!). Carlton are rated at $6 for next year, equal with the Swans and Geelong is at $12. You figure out your own betting regime! :-)

The best team in sports history was the 1972 Miami Dolphins. They were the only professional sports team to not lose a game, and win the title. Also they are the only sports team to be top rated in both scoring offense and scoring defense.
As for guys who should be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, the most deserving is Ron Santo, followed by Bert Blyleven, and Goose Gossage. Also if they would make him eligible, of course Pete Rose deserves to be in.

Best teams, in no particular order:
1976 Montreal Canadiens - lost something like 8 games all year
1972 Miami Dolphins - undefeated, says it all
1985 Chicago Bears - the most dominant team I've ever seen
1984 Detroit Tigers - awesome from start to finish
1995-96 Chicago Bulls - 72 wins, 'nuff said
1927 New York Yankees - 110 wins, swept the Pirates in the WS
plus many, many college teams, in all sports, that are too numerous to list
In the Hall and shouldn't be: I can't make that call, others are way smarter than I in that arena
Deserves the Hall: Pete Rose, Joe Jackson, Bert Blyleven, Rich Gossage, Art Monk, Andre Reed

The New York Yankees 26 time World Series champions, most recent years 1977, 1978, 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000. Among those who deserve to be inducted, into the baseball hall of fame are Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Hideki Matsui, Johnny Damon and Jorge Posada.

If you're talking about single seasons, four that come to mind are the 95-96 Chicago Bulls who won 72 games, a Montreal Canadien team in the mid 70's that only lost 8 games all year, the 1998 Yankees with 114 wins, and of course, the 1972 Dolphins.

The original dream team is the greatest team in sports history. Pete Rose should be in the Hall of fame as a player, but should still be banned from participating in MLB.

Wow this question is so broad!
Red Sox 2004, being idiots, being hurt but still coming through to sweep the Yankees and the Cards to win the world series, which hadn't been done for so long.
People who shouldn't be in the hall of fame who are-no one, anyone who is deserves it.
People who shouldn't be-anyone who has used seroids. There records are not accurate, they cheated.
People who should go into the hall of fame-Papelbon, Pujols and Ryan Howard

Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame; and if Phil Rizzuto got in, then Gil Hodges' entry is long overdue.
