I wanted to know if am put on as a authorized user on some ones credit card, someone with a better credit score (over 750), by about 150 or so points, how will that help or hurt my credit score, and how will hurt or help their score. does this make the person authorizing me liable to my debt, and if this is so how long does this last, i just wanted to know if this can help me out without hurting them.
Thank you

If you are an authorized user on someone's account you share that part of their credit history. You get credit on your score for their ability to pay on time, etc.

Their score won't change unless they stop paying or are late paying on their own. Also since you are an authorized user, you can charge to their account and impact their ability to repay.

This is one of the tools that 'credit repair' agencies use. They find someone with good credit pay them a fee to add an authorized user (with no card and no access to the credit line) to artificially boost their credit rating. Since this is a form of fraud, the credit card companies are trying to close this loophole and are working on new score formulas to eliminate the benefits of being an authorized user on other's accounts.
