Your question could mean more than one thing. If you are asking why some Mercedes have C200 on the badge and some have E200 then the answer is that they are two different models of Mercedes with the same engine. The C class is a smaller body shape than the E class but both have the 200 engine( 2ltr) . The M class is the 4x4 model the S class is the limo the SL is the big sports and so on. If on the other hand you are asking what the C,E,S,SL,M classes mean then i believe they have some meaning in German but apart from that i can not tell you.

Out of all these German brands I think Audi is the nicest to drive. But this is a question only you can answer - you must try them all and see what YOU like and which fits YOU best. Asking random strangers to spend your 55k is just silly, as is not buying a car just because you perceive it to be an 'old man car'.

I love this question...such a challenge. So far these are the ones I know, I'm still looking for the others:

Class:

C = Compact (small car)

G = Gelandwagen (country; country-side car; off-roader)

S = Sunder (super; luxury; luxobarge; limousine)

SLK = the "K" stands for "Kurtz" which means "short" wheelbase. I think the SL means "Sport Light"...

...someone correct me where I'm wrong please, thanks.
