Well, Randy Rhoads was from California, Eric Clapton is from England, Steve Vai is from New York, Joe Satriani is from New York also. With the exception of BB King and Stevie Ray Vaughn (Mississippi and Texas), I can't think of any really great guitarists from the south.

Are, you, William, Shatner? Southern guitarists may be able to **** off on pointless 5 minute solos(raise your lighters,boys!), but outside of some of the blues guitarists, I'd say the best guitarists come from anywhere but the south.

I wouldn't say all great guitar players are from the south, but most great guitar players play forms of music that originated in the south. IMO, all great musical genres of this century came out of the south, there is always a new sound brewing here and great underground music.

Hendrix was from Washington state wasn't he? Anyway the better guitarists overall are from Great Britain.

jimi hendrix aint neither is angus young but thats all they did they didnt grow up n the big citys w/ way 2 many distractions from it and also they listened to alot of blues like bb king and such im from the south (ky) and all i do is tha' cuz there aint no nothin' 2 do and also they were closer 2 there families and had alot of generations 2 learn from like grandparents and parents bro.s sis.s aunts uncles and so on...

you need to do more research...lets see....steve vai is from new york...joe satriani is from new york...paul gilbert is from illinois...zakk wylde is from new jersey...michael angelo is from illinois....the list goes on and on...and these are people who are noted at being the best...so....ask steve vai that question...see what he says...ha
