how do you check transmission fluid on 2004 cavalier

Most Chevrolets went to a sealed transmission around that time period. (Many automotive manufacturers are going this route).
The way to check is similar to how a manual transmission is checked. There is a bolt on the transmission. You need to have the car level and the transmission fluid needs to be warm.
Remove the fill bolt on the transmission and fill until it starts leaking out of the transmission.
I know it sucks, but that's the way many manufacturers are going. Many think they can acutally build a maintenance free transmission.
