Probably not, the copy of windows that comes bundled with a new computer is usually an OEM version (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and not a 'Retail' version. It is essentially locked to the motherboard of the laptop you bought it with.

You can probably install it on another computer but when it comes to validating it Micro$oft won't let that happen.

It's all to do with the different licensing of windows (OEM Vs Retail).

Hope this helps, there's a good article in my sources that explains OEM stuff further.

You may be allowed to install it but win vista will recognize your system as a different computer and will not give you activation till you purchase a license. Hope you didnt buy ultimate.

Nope. Once you've used up ONE serial number, YOU CAN NEVER use it AGAIN to INSTALL VISTA on OTHER COMPUTERS!
