Few things to consider, first, your age. and no, that blood pressure at any age is not good, but your age would help my try and steer you in the right direction.

Second, was this taken with an at home machine? Soem are pretty innaccurate, downright crappy if you ask me, if you took it with a home machine, go to your doc and just ask for a blood pressure check, or the nearest EMS station or Fire Department, just get it checked.

If it stays there, then make an appointment with your doc to have him check it, one of the first things he will do is have you document your BP on a regular basis, daily checks at the same time, keeping a log, then review it and see what is hapening.

Smoking? Yeah you need to quit, and you already know it, so no since in going into a long diatribe on that.

Your systolic is fine (133), your diastolic is puching it a bit, as a Paramedic, I don't consider anything to be a hypertensive crisis until the diastolic reaches 110, and even then, it's easy to get back down, and easy to control with meds.

Check it again in a bit, if it's still up, get it checked.

Don't let the doomsayers convince you that you are about to die......

hey, that is really high, and you should definitely be concerned about it. Maybe it's stress, they don't confirm you with high blood pressure until it's consistently high in a pattern. You don't have to be overweight to have high blood pressure. And you should cut back on smoking cigs. Good Luck.

Yes, In addition to causing heart and kidney problems, untreated hypertension can also affect your eyesight. Hypertension can cause damage to the blood vessels in the retina, the area at the back of the eye where images focus. This condition is known as hypertensive retinopathy. The damage can be serious if hypertension is not treated.
