What is a transmission cileniod? Got a diagnostic check done and that's what I was told needed to be replaced

solenoid it is what helps the transmission shift gears. if they are gonna replace that ,they might aas well rebuild the tranny one time or get another tranny put in.

Solenoids will go bad. According to the following website, solenoids in a transmission, "redirect the fluid to the appropriate clutch pack or servo in order to control shifting."

well a car make and model would help a lot here and its soleniod. Transmissions nowadays can have several.......
