No, a lot of parents are using their computer as a babysitter for their kids these days.

I'm just getting on, but I have noticed that there are children on this site more often than I think they should be. Many of them are NOT 13! Personally, I think that there should be a Yahoo-Teen site for ages 13-18 - exclusively to them. I have noted the danger for many of the young girls who write about "do I look pretty?" See my website. Very inappropriate and I worry about some of them not being aware of the risks they take - and particularly that parents are not aware. Yahoo is aware - but I am not sure if they are doing anything or can do anything.....

Multimedia has become mainstream due to the internet. Couple this with the fact, more people have computers today, likely hand me downs from friends and families. Cell phones and hand held devices are now cheap or free in some cases with cell phones with service, which parents pay for so they can reach their children.
Guess that'll keep happening if we keep having babies, lol.
Edit: That's why today, people in general, are becoming obese. Kids no longer watch cartoons Saturday morning then go you and play. They watch Saturday mornings then jump online. (Off Topic but just felt like adding this in)

TOO MANY
While yes its a great source of research I remember going around trying to borrow a neighbors encyclopedia when i was in school do to reports and the like...now its all at the tip of thier fingers. But at what cost??? Childern have lost respect for things and expect everything to bend at thier will. They do not know what it si to work for things. And the Child Solicitation is out of control. Sad part is thier parents have a myspace page along side of thiers kids. It seems we lost the parenting and control and now just want our kids to think we are cool.
SAD SAD times.

No you are not, and now they're going to follow you for the rest of the day giving you thumbs down for even using the word "children." Probably me too for just asnwering your question. Dear God let school start asap, Amen.
