I have a problem with lying. How do I stop? And can I ever get anyone to trust me again?

To gain trust back, you have to prove over time that you are honest and trustworthy. So stop lying! If you can't, then perhaps you should seek some professional help. Good luck!

Well, why do you lie? If you lie to avoid answering difficult questions, then the next time someone asks you one of these questions, instead of lying, just tell them that you don't want to answer, or that "It is none of your business", or simply "You wouldn't like the answer [so quit asking]". You do not have to lie.
If you are lying in order to hide some unpleasant fact that the other person needs to hear (like you wrecked their car), keep in mind that it will come out sooner or later, and that they will be even more angry about the fact that you lied about it than they were about what you actually did. Have enough courage to take responsibility for your mistakes. It makes you more mature, and it makes for fewer problems in the long run (if you are in trouble, might as well get it over with quickly, rather than letting it hang over your head for a long period of time -- fearful that someone might eventually find out).
As far as regaining someone's trust, just quit lying. If this person hangs out with you all of the time, they will gradually see that you have turned over a new leaf, and will start to trust you again.

Having read your explanation, I have to say that this whole situation sounds kind of fishy. When a girl keeps saying "why are you with me?", or "you're too good for me", it usually means that she's looking for a nice way to get rid of you. I mean honestly - how many of us feel like we have to tell a person who's out of our league that they should really be with someone else? As though we have some moral obligation to do so! Most of us, when we hit the jackpot, are only too happy to have what we have. So the fact that she seemed (even before your "lie" surfaced) to be pushing you away is very strange. Now that you've told her only ONE lie, she's doubting everything about the entire relationship. HUH?? Either this chick is crazy and overly paranoid, or she's just found a better excuse to jump on as to why she "can't" be with you. Here's the thing about women - they hate to be direct. They will find any excuse under the sun to drop a hint at you. If you don't take the hint, she will eventually blow up at you for being so thick-skulled as to not see her "hidden messages", which by the way will be entirely "your fault". This relationship is done man, sorry to have to say it.

Trust is something you earn, it shows your character. Alot of things are based on trust and so you need to work on this situation because once someone can not trust you it is so hard to prove anything to them anymore.Maybe this person can forgive you. We all have it in us to forgive. Just work on the lying part and you should be ok. Most serious relationships are mainly based on trust.

well we all lie to some degree at one time or another it just depends on what you are lieing about and to who? trust is easy to loose and hard to gain back, that's a fact. my self i feel you need to stop lieing to your self first! and i believe you just started by admitting that you have a problem lieing, don't really know if you can Gain trust back all the way but you must be repetitive and not lie and show that person it may take a few months or years but if they are important to you this will not matter, but remember one little lie and then they will never trust you! hope this helps..greeneyes

It is easier to tell the truth since you don't have to remember when you have lied and what you have lied about.
If you cannot tell the truth stop saying anything.

Quit being scared to tell the truth. Tell the truth always. What are you scared for. Be a man or woman about your problems and just tell the truth
