OK, it all depends upon the situation, such as leaving by day? by night? how long the flight? Best is to just take it easy and remember it is fun to fly, to watch the clouds and the scenery go by. If height bothers you, best to not look down; if you wish to look down, look far off so it doesn't seem you are flying so high. Don't drink before the flight; eat, but not too much. Get a good nights sleep the night before. Distract yourself after boarding by reading or listening to your favorite music. Of course, if there is someone along that you enjoy talking to, talk to them. Think positive at all times. Be prepared for turbulence or whatever, and remember that the angels are holding that plane up, keeping you and everyone else safe. You can almost ignore that you are flying; just keep yourself occupied with thoughts, reading, talking, enjoying life.

Portable tv or PSP or magazines...whatever you can do to keep you mind off the fact that you're traveling at 700 mph at 25,000 feet in the air without a parachute. I really hate flying....And yes I have actually driven to florida from NY while the rest of the family took a plane. The funny thing is that I pilot a helicopter about 3 times a year. But I've gotten better, just keep trying to find ways to keep yourself occupied. During flight its not too bad. Just during landing isnt my favorite.

Put your favorite calming music on your mp3 or ipod and start listening before you even get on board. Deep breaths in through the mouth out the nose. Doctor can prescribe anxiety meds but if you only have problems on the plane meds might not be the answer. Mind over matter. Baby steps on to the plane ;)

if you are of drinking age have a drink to calm your nerves, just dont have more than 2 cuz that may make you more nervous. Some people take Benadryl to make them calm down before a plane ride, it makes you sleepy too so that is nice. You can ask your doc for a pill too that will calm your nerves, like a Valium but if you are traveling alone its probably not a good idea to take that if you aren't used to it and dont know how it will effect you. A drink is the best i think.

Nope. in basic terms positioned: they're bugs. they're so small and primitive relative to us that "understand", like most of the international around them, is going top over their heads. quite, your common puppy or kitten or perhaps human infant has much greater occurring in its head than your common insect does. bugs are fairly tiny living robots--they eat, molt, improve, eat some greater, molt and improve some greater, breed and then die. And on an analogous time as there is larval ranges for some and issues for others, that's extraordinarily solidly actual of all of them. They do the employer of existence practically completely in a reflexive, mechanical way. And maximum vertebrate existence gets this: maximum land vertebrates kill in spite of bugs they run into (or eat them, as some birds, amphibians and reptiles do). Flies etc particularly have developed to reproduce by using the 1000's just to atone for that. there's a metaphor in right here someplace, approximately trolls in this cyber web, i'm confident. Or a minimum of the bots[*]. Pun meant.

Okay i have panic attacks so i know how you feel, its not nice.. =[

Just let your self worry, sounds stupid but... Then if you just get on the plane fast and just keep telling yourself i have to do this i have to and just get on it... it sounds hard and is but if you just keep telling yourself it will be fine and that you have too then it should go ok, if your nerves are actually making you ill e.g vomiting ect, dont let yourself worry try and see a doctor because its not healthy, he/she might be able to suggest something, tell me how it goes..

Ohhh.. and if you are scared of being sick on the plane go to a shop and buy phanergan tablets.. or liquid, It actually works i used to suffer with travel sickness and this made me feel well and happy all the way india.. from england... =]

Well. definitely don't drink and fly.... It won't help your nervousness.... You will spend more time in the bathroom then in the seats.. You must get an ipod and listen to music that puts you to ease, close your eyes and just concentrate on the music, or you can watch a movie with the earphones on, That's all that helps for me... Hope it helps...

You're more likely to be in a car crash than a plane crash. In other words, flying is safer than driving.

Other than that little fun fact :), just do things to keep yourself busy...reading, listening to music, watching a movie (if available).

Good luck. :D
