I'd like to get a program that, when you get spam mail, it automatically goes in and sends the spammer a "take me off your mailing list" notice without me having to open the spam message up to get to the "unsubscribe" field. I don't like openning messages from anyone that I don't know for fear that they might contain a virus (or worse). Is there a program like this available on the market today?

There's no such animal. It's not possible to identify the spammer from the e-mail as it has been relayed through a hijacked machine in the first place. The From: field is always spoofed so sending an e-mail to that address is useless.

Even if there was a program that could do that, it would just prove to the spammer that your e-mail address was valid and make the problem worse.
