okay. so this morning i went to pee and there was a little blood in it and then about an hour or so later i had to pee again and there was quite a bit of blood.
i'm not sure if it's some sort of infection or if it's my period.
i'm supposed to be getting my period soon though.

You're exactly right. It could be your period or it could be an infection. So the first thing to ask yourself is, "do I have any symptoms of an infection?" If your urine has a foul odor, or you are peeing more freequently than normal, if you feel the urge to pee and you can't go, or if you have a burning sensation with peeing, these are all some common signs of a urinary tract infection (UTI). The only way to know is to have a urine culture, which is a lab test your doctor can send you for. But this really isn't necessary if you don't have symptoms consistent with a UTI. You can have blood in your urine several days before and several days after your period. If you don't have any symptoms, wait and see if its just your period. But if you have symptoms, see your doctor. Tell her that you are on (or about to be) on your period, but that you saw blood in your urine and tell her about your symptoms. A simple urinalysis will not be as helpful as a culture, since you do have blood in your urine, so she may run both tests.
Another possible explanation for blood in your urine is a kidney stone or some other problem with your kidneys. However, in most cases, you would have a great deal of pain in your back or abdomen if this were the case. At any rate. If the blood persists well after your period, you certainly should see your doctor.

Try wearing a sanitary pad to see if you have started your period. If there is no blood on it after wearing it for an hour or so, you may have a urinary tract infection and would need to see your doctor. With a urinary tract infection, you usually feel discomfort when your pee and also the need to go frequently as your bladder is unable to empty completely due to the inflammation and infection.

Does it hurt when you pee? Burn? Are you having to pee frequently? It could be a Urinary tract infection. They can become very painful so if it is coming out of your urethra and not your vagina- you need to see your DR asap. If it gets worse it will turn into a kidney infection!

well let's see it depends how old you are between 10-16 if you are anywhere near or at those ages it might be your period. or if you ate anything or did anything to hurt your body you might think it is an infection. but do not be scared tell your parents or go to a doctor(if it is an infection do it asap). and just remember it is just how our body works if you are in those age groups , your body is developing. ^^ hope this helps

If you're female, it could be that you are beginning your monthly tide.
However it could infact be a Urinary Tract Infection which can and will get worse if you don't get to a doctor soon.
