For the past one week, been doing 3 sets of 10 squattings per day. Knee always starts to feel pain during the 2nd set. Is it normal for knee to hurt while doing squatting?

Also, is it true that tip top while walking stairs will help to tone up thighs?

You shouldn't be squatting more than once a week especially if you are doing serious weight. I always wrapped up with anything over 300lbs which was usually my second set. It really depends on where in the knee you are feeling pain and if you send me a message I may be able to diagnose this a little more accuratly. If a D-1 athlete only does squats once a week then there is no reason for anyone to do weighted squats more than that.

if it hurts while squatting, you may have a torn miniscus. See if it hurts also going up and down stairs...the best therapy for this is Motrin and aquatics therapy for the leg and knee. Some people have had surgery but the most conservative approach usually works. Feel better!

Only do down to where one could balance a cup on your thighs. anything lower is dangerous. And unless it has been struck by something hard, knees should not hurt.It runs counter to health
