Oh, it's a Vulcan. If it's leaking oil it was meant to. Japanese bikes are always perfect from the factory and never breakdown.

Likely that it's a bit overfull oil. V twins often blow oil out of the airfilter. You may be able to buy an aftermarket fix that directs the blow by back into the carb or throttle body so it can be burned.
If it's not that, then you may have worn rings allowing combustion gases to get past the piston and into the crankcase.

When I took my motorcycle safety course, the instructor had this to say about oil leaks:
"If it's a Harley, it might leak oil, it might not. If it's a Japanese bike and it leaks oil, it's shot, don't buy it. If it's a British bike and it's NOT leaking oil, that means it's empty."

If you only notice fluid while riding, and not when it's parked, it could be a dirty breather/filter. k & n makes a filter cleaning kit that is sold at most auto part stores. or if yours isnt reusable, then consider replacing the filter. it's a good inexpensive maintenance thing to do and it may just cure your problem.

I got a feeling ther is a problem with your crank case breather, vent that sucker to atmosphere or purchace a k and n breather.

could be serious like the first poster stated
or
as simple as it being too full of oil. also might check to see if the breather might need to be cleaned (functions like a check valve and might have something stuck in it where it's stuck open, allowing oil to seap out)...

You need to post more info on the bike and where the hose is and where the oil spots are.. It may just be the crankcase vent hose.
