about Hubble & other long range telescopes. They show pictures of neighboring galaxies and how they relate in size and mass to the Milky Way galaxy. So how do we get photos of our own galaxy? or Were those just representations? They sure looked real enough.

All pictures of our galaxy that we have are taken from Earth's point of view. But we know enough detail from these views to be able to construct a reasonably-accurate image of our galaxy as from a point of view outside of it.
