The answer is definitely D.

Not A - recessive traits could be a better form of the trait, but they just don't get to show up as often. Think of diseases like Huntington's Disease that are caused by a dominant allele. The recessive form of that trait is "normal", and is definitely the preferred or superior form.

Not B. - all forms of a gene are coded in the DNA whether they are dominant or recessive

Not C - is never expressed with the dominant. Simple dominance or Mendelian dominance means that the dominant allele shows in a heterozygous individual. The recessive allele is not expressed at all. It's still there, but it is totally quiet or hidden.

D. - See explanation in my "not C" statement.

d. A recessive trait could be good bad or neutral, but in the presence of a dominant allele of the same gene it will be squelched.

Edited to add that I think this is a badly worded question. I think the people who picked A probably know how genes work, but took "inferior" to mean "less powerful" rather than "less desirable."

a recessive trait is a trait that is the weaker of the two traits and the stronger more powerful trait is the dominant trait it is said that males usually have dominant traits, but not always. So really a recessive trait loses and a dominant trait is the winner.
A is the answer to your question.
