You should have someone take you for at least one month at least 3 times a week to make sure you have everything down. There is all kinds of driving conditions and even though you picked it up on your first time, you still need to be aware of certain situations. Good Luck.

Driving lessons a part skill(s) training, part confidence building, and part situation handling. You can probably handle learning the basic skills easily (I did).
The confidence building comes gradually over time. You have to be very familiar with the car, know where everything important is, know what to expect from other drivers, and also know what to do when something doesn't happen when it is supposed to (like someone cuts you off, or an accident happens right in front of you).
That's where situation handling comes into play. Your instructor uses certain behavioural markings to know when to teach you certain skills. When you can show them you know where everything important in the car is without having to think about it... that's a good one. When you can handle basic mechanics (turning, signalling, parking, changing lanes) on a regular day without looking stressed or excited, that's another good sign.
The situational skills you REALLY want to take the time to learn. Like what to do when some idiot blinds you with his bright lights at night when you are driving. Or when someone gets into a fender bender right in front of you and you are going about 20 miles/hr. Or how to plan alternate routes to the same destination in case construction or traffic has you blocked. This is the stuff you NEED to KNOW, and will only be taught when you show a good command of the BASICS.
Take the time to practice your basics, get comfortable with the car, and remember this: Every time you drive, it's not how well you handle the car, it's how well you can handle how everyone else is driving around you (ie: if you can predict up to 3 seconds of each car in visual sight range, you just might avoid having an accident before you turn 25).
