Hello,

People like to get going and cracking on things and not be slowed down with red tape. It is very much like reading the licence agreement when downloading a program. They say over 90% of the population gives the ageement a 10 second glance when as a legal document it should take more than half an hour to read it carefully.

That said, I must agree that:

1) Certain key words trigger off auto delete responses.

2) If there are moderators in yahoo they may be working in overseas offices or from the home and English is a second language. I once said for example that the people of a certain country are no longer sheep and are mean as junk yard dogs when struck at now; using the expressions as a complimentary simile but I got a violation notice and lost the ten points for best answer.

Cheers,

Michael

PS - I hate people that rat others out on these forums. I love sparring it out with fanatics and avid racists and there is nothing more discouraging than spending half an hour or more writing and researching a good missive that cuts these people to pieces only to see it disappear in a flash.

Personally if I had anything to say, if a person complains more than three times, they should be deleted or barred out of yahoo for being cry babies who cannot handle some flak, insult or criticism - if you can't take the heat in the kitchen - out you go!

The exceptions to my point are of course sexual harrassment, stalking or threats of physical violence.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

People just do it because of a vendetta against another person. Nobody uses the community guidelines in the right ways. It is all about revenge which is wrong of course and payback. It is all about bring the other person down to your level or lower. On yahoo answers reporting people is all because it takes away their points. People want higher points then others. I am not in it for the points. My calling is not that I get points but that I tell God's message and if anybody hates hearing that you can leave right now or be glad in the fact that Jesus Christ lives, what will it be? For I am not going anywhere anywhere. I am going to staying right here. I will walk in God's name till the day I meet Him in the clouds!

I really don't know. I hate the violation notice that I got two days ago. I had simply posted a "thank you" to my yahoo friends for sending a star on my daughters birthday and that was supposedly a VIOLATION??!! I couldn't believe it. I said nothing that was out of line or negative in any form or fashion and I got a notice?? What sense does it make?? I see all these avatars of naked genitals and they can exist without violation and I say "thanks" to everyone and get the axe??

Oh well, I will do my best to exist with the idiots on this site. I love posting answers with everyone so I will live with it.

Sandy :O)

Oh, was this a violation??

There are a lot of reasons. Sometimes people don't take the time to read all of them. Like myself, I'm guilty of not reading them the first time I opened a yahooanswers account. I tried to post some questions and got them deleted by yahoo. I opened an second account, but this time I read them and now understand why they were deleted. There a lot of term used that are hard to understand. Sometimes people don't care if they are breaking the Terms Of Service (T.O.S.)
agreement, and post anything they want. I read that yahoo has the right to terminate your service if they want to, which I didn't know the first time simply because I didn't read it the first time. I know better now.

Because there are always people out to cause disturbances.. Just like bullies at school these people feed off of the reaction they cause. it's not that they are unable to follow community guidelines, the fact is they can they just don't want to because if they did they wouldn't be able to cause as much chaos. I just ignore these people, if you refuse to react you take away the only reason for them to behave idiotically and thus defeat their purpose.

Some violations are easy to identify. Others are more a matter of individual opinion, particularly when it comes to what is "offensive". I find that I frequently "self-censor" things that I would normally say in person arounds friends or people who know me, because, although no offense is intended (in fact, most of the time I'm trying to be funny) I can see where a person could be offended.
So, why don't others engage in self-censoring?
Hmmm......

Well, I've gotten several violation notices from Yahoo about things that were not violations. I've come to believe that they're triggered simply when another person clicks the option to complain about someone's answer, whether the complaint is legitimate or not.

Because people being people will always do the exact opposite to what you ask or expect them to do. Its not out of spite(I hope)just that people are so caught up in themselves and their own lives that they dont stop and consider others. well thats my theory anyway

They say "rules are made to be broken". Ever heard of that one? Others like to live dangerously. I like the latter.
