Hello. I accidentally upgraded my computer to IE 7 months ago and have realized this upgrade has caused my computer to be very slow, DVD player, scanner and web cam do not work anymore. I notice on the HP, etc. websites IE 7 is not compatible with most of these.

How can I revert back to the previous Internet Explorer?

To further explain how I "accidentally" upgraded..it was an accident. I was to upgrade something for work on my home computer and I "accidentally" hit Yes instead of No when my IT dept. specifically said hit No. So yes, I accidentally upgraded to IE 7. It has not caused me any issues until now. It was an error on my part, but it was not done intentionally.

Thank you all for the great answers.

Yes. If you installed IE 7 and wish to go back, I simply don't blame you. I don't like it either.

Here are the instructions. I hope that they work for you.

Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 and restore Internet Explorer 6 when using Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Add or Remove Programs.
3. You might have to CHECK the box that says SHOW UPDATES
4. Scroll down to Windows Internet Explorer 7, click it, and then click Change/Remove.

If you cannot find Internet Explorer 7 in Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Run, type
%windir%\ie7 \spuninst\spuninst.exe
(I added a space after ie7 so you could see the whole line)
and then press ENTER.

For more information, check this page at the Microsoft website. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/Aa740486.aspx

If you have further trouble, you might try the RESTORE thing in the System Tools folder and go back a few days before you made this terrible mistake.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

I don't know how anyone can "accidentally" download and install Internet Explorer 7. This is not accidental. Nevertheless, you now want to get rid of it, right? Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and the Show Updates box at the top. When the list loads, find Internet Explorer 7 and click Yes to remove it. After removal, close Control Panel and restart the computer for the change to take effect. IE will revert back to IE6.

Control Panel > Add remove programs and select IE 7 from the list and click remove.

Or

Start > Run > paste this and say ok
%windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe

It is very simple...
Go to Start>>Control Pannel>>Add/Remove Programs

Search for "Internet Explorer 7" and then click on Remove and then click next... You are finished, you will get back your old IE back... If you don't, go to http://www.microsoft.com and download any older version of IE

My Opinion: IE7 is great and it also works great, it is latest and HP is shortly upgrading its website as to allow IE7 users to visit it
The best browser is Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.6.. Click here to download

either you can uninstall IE7 or simply use system restore . You can find system restore in start--help and support. Its really simple and fixes the problem. I have used it several times especially when people keep upgrading my comp to IE7.

I don't think you can downgrade . . . just use Mozilla Firefox instead. Good luck!
