If you work in a strip mall then you will remain open. if it is the water company fixing something you will remain open!
most companys are considerate and let you go home i can see your place isn't this nice!
but i don't think it is illegal!
my water company came to one of my business said the water was going to be out for at least 3 hours! it was out 7 hours most of the day! we were in a strip mall only our water was effected!

Is it illegal?
That would depend on the nature of your business, but generally, no.
However, many businesses would likely close for the day if there was going to be a single day of disruption. Unless, they had already talked to the other businesses in the area and made arrangements for their staff.

State Health Department regulations vary, but unless you are a food service location, it probably isn't illegal.

I agree with you but I think it is only against the law if they are a food service or in the public health related fields.Call the health dept. and check.

No, there's no law against it. If there is where you live, I'd be shocked. Also, I'm pretty sure they don't even have to have bathrooms in their facility if they don't want to. Good night!
