I go barefoot all the time anyhow so I would never break a heel, but hypothetically speaking.. sure I would take off both shoes! Even when I still wore footwear, I could never understand how someone could walk on one shoe, if for some reason I had to take more than two steps (someone teasing & taking off with a shoe, or something) it felt horrible, walking uneven like that... and that wasn't even *high* heels, I never wore those... that was just flats or sneakers.

Its all about practice practice practice! Its a good thing because it makes your legs look thinner, your stomach flatter, and it does for you buns what 3 days in the gym would do...INSTANT LIFT! lol * Walk carefully. Grass, cobblestones, and grates or drains are your enemy. Even a crack on the sidewalk can bring you down if it swallows the tip of your heel. Watch your step and don't even think about power walking or jogging with those heels on. * Always make sure you get well-fitting shoes. Ill-fitting shoes can cause serious long term damage to your feet. * No matter how nice your heels are, don't wear them all the time. Wearing heels too often can result in poor foot health. * Walking in heels indoors is very different to walking in them outdoors. Without the soft cushioning of carpet, or the flat even indoor surface of lino or wood, walking in heels can be ten times as difficult. Even minor surface flaws in tarmac will present difficulties, so try walking up and down outside your house a few times. Trick: If you can wear the heels and raise to your toes at least an inch, your wearing the right shoes!!!! Also: - start with small heels - then move up to wedges - and finally wear stilettos trust me your feet will thank you! GOOD LUCK!

Since the pair is ruined you may as well snap off the other heel and walk in those shoes rather than barefoot.

depends on where you're walking. I'd take my shoes off only if I was indoors somewhere or soemwhere where I knew my feet wouldn't get cut or step in anything dangerous or gross. Otherwise I'd probably just gimp along with one heel intact and walking on my toes in the other shoe, either way, crummy situation! (tragic if the shoes were cute!)

I ALWAYS carry a pair of slip on sandles in my purse, just in case I do break a heel! But if not, I guess I would break the other one off, and try to find a repair shop asap, NYC streets are just too gross to go barefoot!

I hate walking barefoot, but it would be better than walking in one heel. Ever seen Crocodile Dundee when she runs down the street in heels, than takes them off and runs barefoot in Manhattan? Yuck.

I have to guess that this hasn't actually happened to you yet and that it is hypothetical? If it is, you are obviously worried about the state of your shoes, there are plenty of cobblers in high streets these days, take your shoes there to get their opinion, it will at least put your mind at rest.
