I've been having them for about four months now and I'm really tired of them- literally. Sleep hasn't been as replenishing since they started. They're mostly about death- people around me dying. I'd like to understand why I'm having these nightmares and what I can do to stop them if anyone can be of any help. Thanks!

Dreams are simply the unconscious mind talking to you. They allow you to relieve stress by doing or saying something to someone you would never do in real life (like shooting your boss). After a dream, many times you may feel better when you awake.
Unfortunately, it may work in reverse. I may guess that in some way death has entered your life and made an impression on your subconscious. Has someone died? Are you watching death filled movies?
Once your mind clears of these unpleasant thoughts all should return to normal.
good Luck

Try to spend time relaxing for an hour before bedtime. Read a book, take a warm bath, etc.
These nightmares are stemming from anxiety/fear of the unknown i.e. death
Many fear death - some admit it and some dont. It is the typical fear of the unknown.

Stress, fears (not dealt with )Perhaps you need to actively make an effort to change the dream.
Think about the dream during the day ,talk about it with a trustworthy person. Consciously make an effort to change the dream itself. Deal with the way you think about your own impending death.
We all fear and dream death but , this may not be the reason for your dreams (which, by the way are not unusual )
Talk it out -think around it . actively deal with the way you feel about the things you dream .
Anyway that's the way I handle repetitive bad dreams .

Dreams are the inner most parts of us. So maybe those nightmares maybe your inner part talking to you. Maybe you to learn something from those nightmares, maybe the lesson is that death is going to happen regardless or maybe that is your fear.

your irrational fears, sitting in your subconscious, are behind your night mares. These are helpful and let you know what you are afraid of and you can convince yourself with reasons and logic that these are irrational and thus can't harm you.
Please remember that nothing is supernatural behind these.

Nightmares usally are like visions. Yes all though there scary, they can mean sumthing. Dreams or nightmares can mean that it couold just be you imagination, or you heart or gut talking to you in you sleep.
