Is an Air Breather (not air filter) worth Buying?

Question

What exactly does it do, any increas in horsepower or torque, gas mileage.

it will increase horsepower, HOWEVER, i havent seen where the boost is that great.

I served 4 years in the Marine Corps, the last 2 1/2 in Vietnam and when I pulled an R&R in Okinawa I had the opportunity to visit the Kadena Air Force Base. The enlisted Marines in Okinawa slept 80 troops in Quonset huts with double deck bunk beds. The enlisted personnel in the Air Force slept 4 to a ROOM on single beds and when they weren't on duty they could go anywhere on or off base at any time. The Marine in Okinawa who weren't NCOs had what they call Cinderella liberty, they had to be back on base by midnight. If I had it over to do again, I would still be a Marine, but for people joining the military, they should know the Air Force is a lot more accommodating in areas concerning comfort.

I assume you are talking about the cold air intake systems. They will gain a little HP with the lower restriction of the filter that they use. It will not be anything that you will really notice. You may have more intake noise, which may give you the idea that you are doing better and have a lot more HP.

I am not sure how well they will filter the air. Look at the specifications of the one you are thinking about buying. Try and find the one with the smallest particulate size. Something like down to 3 microns particulate size.

Myself, I would save the money and just put in another air filter. Your call.

I agree with fordman! they do have a K&N filter system that filters good and is washable wich saves $$ in the long run.
