there is no rule on it but the tv networks try not to show it to give the appearance baseball players don't chew. same as with the pga tour, if you ever watch golf on tv, you never see them chewing or smoking but if you go to a live event, probably 10-15% of pro golfers smoke cigarettes while they play.

Unfortunately, no rule. You still see lots of guys with it but, a lot of them have it tucked in front of their lower lip..I think sunflower seeds have been replacing a lot of chew. Have you ever seen the boxes of bags of Davids sunflower seeds in some dugouts? It must be so disgusting to walk on the floor of the dugout..You see players spitting all over the place..YUCK!

There is no rule in place to control the use of chewing tobacco. However, out of common courtesy one should not spit in the face of an opposing player.

No Rule. This isnt little league-- these guys are grown men.
If they wish to chew tobacco they can do it without any kind of problem. Although alot less do it then they used to. Mainly because they know how had it is for them. And because they are rold models to younger kids.

It may be a prohibited item in the sport. I know they may not smoke in the doughout or the club house. Good question.
