hello everyone, Yes i am a 1st time mom and due in 20 days I'm very excited!! I am also wondering a few things over the past few days I think that I may be losing my mucus plug, it seems to look whiteish and like snot im sorry though im sure or hope that only us women are reading this but we all go though this sort of thing. Am I getting any closer? or am I just being anaxious?

I think, you need to make call to your doc. & ask him/her this question. It does sound like you're on your way to becoming a mom. :)

Hi Alexandra, the mucus plug is an accumulation of cervical secretions, which form all throughout pregnancy to block the cervix and deter the passage of bacteria into the uterus.
Usually in pregnancy, the mucus is cloudy clear, thick and sticky. Toward the end of pregnancy, when the cervix thins, some blood is released into the cervix which gets caught up in the mucus and becomes bloody. The capillaries in the lower uterine segment break down a bit and can bleed.
In early labor, the plug is usually released as a continuous stringy discharge but sometimes it can actually resemble a plug.
Yes Alexandra, any vaginal discharge in pregnancy should be evaluated. But do not make a fuss, you would ask your doctor for an exam to rule out any problems.
