Roughly speaking a lower IQ will mean a worse paid job, and therefore the family will be poorer, and live in a worse area. This will mean that their children get sent to worse schools (hence their children also having lower IQ). Obesity is MUCH more prevalent amongst the poor than amongst the rich, because cheap food is so often unhealthy and full of fat.

Of course the poor diet could also have something to do with development of the brain vis a vis IQ - but I'd say the societal aspects were more to blame.

I find that hard to believe. Besides polls, studies, and controlled research isn't really reliable. I would think that a lot of overweight people would have higher IQ's. Less outdoor physical activity would promote staying indoors more. Reading more books, more time looking up things on the Internet, and watching more TV(which could educational and thought provoking on the right channel, LOL). They may not be as socially inept which would be less interference with their independent thought and personal views.

Well, think about how they got fat. Did they get fat by going to college, studying hard, and learning sport plays? No. They played video games, ate pizza, and sat around all day. They never learned anything, ok, well, maybe some that just have a really slow metabolism, but a lot of them didn't. Does that answer your question?
